In September, 1998 two gentlemen - one a front-of-the-house fellow, the other a chef - opened Elle at 3048 E. Broadway in the historic Broadway Village building designed by famed Tucson architect, Josias Joesler. A part of The Old Pueblo's history for decades, the restaurant was formerly known to Tucson diners as Olsen's.
Accented by lush patios and conveniently located to just about anywhere, Elle was renowned for its wine-inspired fare which emphasized French, Italian and Northern Californian cuisines.
The restaurant's namesake, Elle was the beautiful grandmother (and quite excellent cook) of the original chef. To prepare food as fine as Elle was a compliment indeed. It remains so.
Since January, 2005 - under the sole direction of Jeff Fuld, Owner/Chef, the "new" Elle offers an even more comprehensive, expanded, worldly yet approachable menu, and its international and imaginative wine list features over 200 wines by the bottle and 30 wines by the glass. Making wines easier and more pleasing for guests to select progressively by varietal is his goal.
Jeff's passion for service and customer satisfaction translates in many ways. Quick and efficient business lunches. Retail cheeses, olives, smoked salmon "to go." Home-made sausages and fresh mozzarella. To ensure consistency and quality, Jeff states simply "we like to do it ourselves."
Showcasing seasonal items and menus which change three times annually, Elle also features many organically-produced, locally-grown herbs, fruits and vegetables from Forever Yong Farm in Amado, AZ. Throughout the year, diners enjoy selections with touches of fresh basil, mint, sage, chives, Greek oregano, savory, or dill.
Salads enjoy Arizona-grown spring greens, arugula, radicchio, cherry tomatoes, and onions. Entrees may be accompanied by home-farmed haricot verts, baby carrots, baby beets, winter squash, zucchini, or even on occasion the more off-beat okra or chard! Asian melons likewise are offered in season.
"Fresh" is Elle's mantra whenever possible.
With a keen personal interest and expertise in food and wine pairings, Jeff is a master at offering suggestions for private parties and group events. Together with Chef de Cuisine, Tony Cardadeiro, Jeff thoughtfully considers the flavors of the menu and introduces wines which will balance and complement those flavors.
Whether dining in, taking out, or in-home or in-business catering, savor the many scrumptious flavors of Elle.

Tony Cardadeiro, Chef de Cuisine
At Elle since it opened in 1998, Tony assumed his current role three years ago and became a major collaborator with Jeff on the seasonally-changing lunch and dinner menus. As much as anyone, Tony's participation encouraged a strong wine-producing regional influence on Elle's menus.
